Fresh and Crunchy Apple Slices with Sonic Air Systems' Sanitary Cold Air Knife

Overview

Crunch Pak, a leading player in the healthy snack industry, produces fresh and crunchy apple and pear slices sourced from the finest orchards in the Wenatchee Valley, Washington. To maintain the quality and extend the shelf life of their fruit slices, removing wash solutions effectively during the production process is crucial.

Solution

Sonic Air Systems provided Crunch Pak with a customized solution, the Sanitary Cold Air Knife System, equipped with a HEPA In-line Air Cooler. This innovative Cold Air Knife Blower system utilizes a blower-powered air knife to deliver high-velocity cold airflow at low pressure, effectively removing wash solutions from the apple and pear slices. The HEPA filtration ensures food contact cleanliness, while the Cool-Air™ produces 55°F (12.8°C) blowing air, which  helps retain the freshness of the apple slices. The Blower Motor Assembly is housed in a wash-down-duty enclosure to withstand frequent wash downs and maintain hygiene standards.

Result

Crunch Pak achieved remarkable results by implementing Sonic's Sanitary Cold Air Knife Systems for food processing. The wash solution is effectively removed from the fruit slices, ensuring their freshness, higher quality, and appealing appearance for packaging. Additionally, the ability to extend food shelf life with a dryer has been crucial in the overall success of these healthy and tasty fruit snacks.

The Sonic Sanitary Cold Air Knife System, consisting of two stationary Air Knives, has proven instrumental in enhancing Crunch Pak's production process, guaranteeing customer satisfaction, and reinforcing the company's position in the healthy snacking industry.
