Overview

A major US machine vision inspection solutions provider needed a more effective and energy-efficient dust blow-off solution for their customers in the defense, aerospace, and industrial product industries. The customer requires the surface of their ultra high-speed inspection cameras and the precision lightbox lenses to be dust-free. Sonic’s high air velocity air knife ensures that any airborne dust will be blown away from the sensor viewing path, and the window is kept clear so that unobstructed light rays will pass through.

The customer also needed a solution that could be used in a variety of environments, including manufacturing lines, precision instrument manufacturing facilities, and rugged steel mill environments.

Solution

Sonic Blower powered Ion-Air Knife for Static Neutralizing System, or a basic Sonic Industrial Air Knife System, paired with Sonic Diverter Valve, delivers programmed targeted amplified high-velocity air streams for camera lens dust removal and clearance of surrounding airborne dust at multiple locations in sequence. The timed sequenced dust blow-off allows for intermittent blow-off, which requires less horsepower as no energy goes to waste.

Result

Both solutions are more energy-efficient than traditional dust blow-off methods, such as compressed air. Sonic's systems also deliver targeted air streams, which means that less air is wasted.
